Addictive Comfort is a declaration that black satin is a symbol for addictive comfort. My bed, where I spend the majority of my time, uses black satin bedsheets and many black satin-clad pillows. The eight photographic pieces in the show use black satin as the catalyst that lets me explore parts of my life where comfort can restrain me mentally and physically, or is a place I retreat into and rely on. As I see more and more of current events weighing on the people around me, I also see how the people around me all use similar coping mechanisms of comfort to hide away from uncomfortable realities.
